Juventus will welcome Napoli to the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Friday night. The Old Lady currently sit on the second place, just two points behind the actual leaders Inter. Three points from this match are extremely important for Massimiliano Allegri's side as Inter have a relatively easy job with Udinese at home. Juve are in good form, they have six wins and just one draw on the last seven matches in Serie A. They managed to beat Torino, Milan, Verona, Fiorentina, Cagliari and Monza, while shared the points with Inter. A victory here could see Juventus climbing on the top of the table, at least for one night. But it won't be easy, Napoli have been difficult opponents for the Bianconerri in the recent period as Juve failed to win any of the last four meetings, losing three of them. To be worse, Alegri has some injury worries, particularly in the defense. Mattia De Sciglio and Timothy Weah, are both sidelined with injuries. There are some positive news too. Danilo returned after six weeks out as a late substitute at Monza, while Alex Sandro made his first start since August. Paul Pogba faces threat of four-year ban from football as prosecutors conclude investigation into doping scandal.
Napoli are sharing the fourth place with Roma. Both teams have 24 points, but the Giallorossi have better goal-difference. Nevertheless, Napoli fans are disappointed. The Vesuvians are the reigning champions in Serie A and the fans want another Scudetto. However, the poor start of the season is the main reason why the gap with leaders Inter is big 11 points. Rudi Garcia paid the prize for the poor results and he was sacked last month. His successor Walter Mazzarri had a dream start, winning 2:1 against Atalanta in Bergamo. Macedonian international Eljif Elmas scored the winning goal. The fans weren't distracted by the Champions League 4:2 defeat to Real Madrid at Bernabeu, but a high 3:0 loss to Inter on Sunday was definitely very painful, for two reasons. First of all, they lost at home. Second, it means their Scudetto hopes are very unrealistic now when the gap between them and leaders is 11 points. Mazzarri has some additional issues, especially at left-back, where all three senior players in that position are injured - Mathias Olivera and Mario Rui are definitely sidelined, while Alessandro Zanoli is doubtful with a back problem. Captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo sustained an injury in training and that's another concern for Mazzarri. Big worry, as he has not missed a Napoli game in over 18 months.
Juventus vs Napoli Prediction:
As I wrote above, Juventus failed to win any of the last four meetings against Napoli. The Old Lady have lost three of those four, including a high 5:1 defeat last season. But that was last season, when Napoli dominated Serie A. Now the situation have been changed, Juventus play better. In addition, Napoli are handicapped as some defenders are injured. Alegri is excellent coach and he will take advantage from the situation.
