Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to continue their positive series in the Premier League when they welcome Everton to Molineux. The hosts are currently 11th in the table, having picked up 13 points from their first nine matches, but a victory here could see them climbing to the seventh position. As I already mentioned, they are in solid form. Wolves are unbeaten on the last four league matches, winning three of them. The series started with a narrow 1:0 win over Southampton thanks to Raul Jimenez's second-half goal. Next they beat Newcastle United with 2:1. Hwang Hee-chan was the key name on that match after scoring both goals to inspire Wolves to their first home win of the season. The next victory against Aston Villa was a memorable one. Goals by Danny Ings and John McGinn put the opponents 2:0 ahead at Villa Park. However, Romain Saiss, Conor Coady and Ruben Neves' deflected free kick - all in the final 10 minutes - saw the Wolves complete a remarkable turnaround. In the last round the Wanderers shared the points with Leeds United. Wolves looked to be heading for a fourth top-flight win for the first time since 1972 after Hwang Hee-chan gave them a first-half lead, but a late penalty for Leeds meant they have to satisfy with one point from this fixture. For this match Bruno Lage has several injured players. Fernando Marcal is the latest victim and he will miss the match due to a calf problem. Four additional players remain sidelined - Jonny, Pedro Neto, Yerson Mosquera and Hugo Bueno. On the positive note, Willy Boly is available after recovered from illness.
Everton are 8th with 14 points from their opening nine games. They could go up to the sixth place with a victory in this match. I believe the players will enter the game motivated. However, the actual form is awful - two defeats on the last two matches in the Premier League. What is worse, both defeats came at Goodison Park. First they lost 0:1 to West Ham and that defeat could somehow be swallowed considering the form of the opponents. But the last week's humiliation, when they suffered a high 2:5 defeat to Watford, definitely frustrated the fans. It was the first ever home defeat against Watford in any competition, having been unbeaten in 15 home matches against the Hornets previously. The club officials are disappointed too. Last season was essentially defined by those types of "easy fixtures". Defeats to the likes of Fulham, Newcastle, Burnley and Sheffield United held the club back from their ambitions of European football. The atmosphere in the squad is not at desired level and Benitez must improve something. There's truly no words for what the last 13 minutes at Goodison Park produced. According to some former players, it was a big embarrassment. Benitez has some additional worries as Fabian Delph is rated as doubtful with a shoulder problem. Four players are definitely sidelined - Abdoulaye Doucoure, Yerry Mina, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Andre Gomes. Benitez is expected to make some changes. Richarlison, who made a successful return from injury off the bench against Watford last time out, should start from the first minute. Alex Iwobi and Mason Holgate could also feature in the starting eleven.
Wolverhampton vs Everton Prediction:
Wolverhampton should win this match. The home advantage is on their side, as well as the current form. While Wolves have three wins and one draw on the last four league fixtures, Everton have suffered defeats on the last two matches. What is worse, they played poor. Supporters have called for a change from the Toffees board and Benitez is already under big pressure. The situation could go out of his hands.
