Paul Jewell’s Town got back to winning ways with a comfortable 3-0 live Sky victory over Coventry City at Portman Road. A Martin Cranie own goal opened the scoring in the first half with Keith Andrews adding the second soon after and Jason Scotland sealing it after the break.
Ipswich lifted some of the pressure on their manager, Paul Jewell, by cruising past Coventry City, who have problems of their own. Jewell's side had lost four of their opening six league games, a run that included a 7-1 defeat at Peterborough United, but this win earned their manager some welcome breathing space.Ipswich began in rampant fashion and took the lead after seven minutes when Aaron Cresswell's cross from the left was headed into his own net by the Coventry centre-back Martin Cranie.

With Coventry all over the place at the back, Ipswich could have wrapped up the game before half-time and missed several chances to score a third, Chopra and Jimmy Bullard both going close with shots that went narrowly wide.Coventry did at least improve after the interval and Cody McDonald headed over with the goal gaping. McDonald had a chance to make amends, only to head wide after being cleverly set up by Gary McSheffrey.
