MONTPELLIER V LYON PREDICTIONS

This game is an exciting kick-off to that 33rd Ligue 1 round. Both teams are still potientally in the fight for a European ticket, but Lyon is in good position for a Champion’s League one, while Montpellier has nearly no hope left to qualify for the next Europa League.

Montpellier are in 7th position with a total of 48 points. When playing home they have a very good 10-4-2 record (2nd best home team in Ligue 1). Their last home loss in the league was back in the beginning of October. However, since it is official that the coach will leave at the end of the season, we feel that this team is not as bounded as it used to be, and their recent form is not looking good. They have 3 losses in the last 5 games, for one win and one draw.

After a very bad run which made them lose their 2nd spot, Lyon got a precious 3-1 home win over Toulouse last week. They are now standing two points behind Marseille, and two points above St-Etienne and Nice. When playing away, they have a 6-5-5 record and 3 losses and their last 5 trips.

Lyon’s defender, Milan Bisevac is suspended for this game.

MONTPELLIER – LYON BETTING TIPS

This is a very tricky game to bet on. On one side we have a very solid team at home, but who might now just let it go and think about next year. On the other side, Lyon has won last weekend, but have had a very bad run just before, so it is hard to know if they will be able to get two wins in a row. In this situation I see a nice value on a draw. You can back the draw at 3.3 with Ladbrokes.
