The Football Association Challenge Cup, commonly known as the FA Cup, is the oldest existing football competition in the World, having commenced in the 1871–72 season. The tournament is open to all clubs in the top 10 levels of the English football league system, although a club's home stadium must meet certain requirements prior to entering the tournament. The competition culminates at the end of the league season (usually in May) with the FA Cup Final. The vast majority of the final matches have been in London: most of these were played at the original Wembley Stadium, which was used from 1923 until the stadium closed in 2000. The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff hosted the final for six years (2001–2006), while the new Wembley Stadium was under construction.
Manchester City have another successful season. Not like the previous one when won the historic treble, but they won the Premier League. The Citizens became the first club in English top-flight history to win four titles in a row. The atmosphere in the squad is excellent, while the players confidence is very high. They have eliminated Huddersfield, Tottenham, Luton, Newcastle and Chelsea in the previous stages of the competition. Guardiola has most of his players available, only the first goalkeeper Ederson is injured. But it shouldn't be a big problem considering the current form of Stefan Ortega, the hero against Tottenham. Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva are all expected to start in the final third, behind central striker Erling Haaland.
Manchester United have eliminated Wigan, Newport, Nottingham, Liverpool and Coventry on their way to the final. This is their only remaining chance for silverware this season. A victory in the final would make the fans happy, but could not be enough for Erik ten Hag to keep his job. To be worse, Dutch coach has lot of injury issues ahead of the final. Harry Maguire will definitely miss the game due to a muscle injury, while Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw are struggling with a knee and muscle injury. Three more players are also doubtful - Victor Lindelof, Mason Mount and Anthony Martial. Hojlund should lead the line after scoring as a substitute in Man United's last two league games. Marcus Rashford is probably disappointed with Southgate decision not to call him for Euro 2024.
Manchester City vs Manchester United Prediction:
Manchester United will play their 22nd FA Cup final, the most by any team in the competition's history. The stake is very big, they have to win to secure European football for the next season. Erik ten Hag is under enormous pressure, he will be probably sacked if his team lose the final. But the question is simple, "are they able to beat City?" Definitely NO. Man City's relentless squad is performing at a higher level to their Red Devil counterparts. They are clear favorites in the final and should outplay the opponents on the way to the FA Cup trophy.
