Dinamo Zagreb welcome West Ham at Stadium Maksimir in the opening round of Group H. Genk from Belgium and Austrian outfit Rapid Vienna are the remaining two teams from the same group. There are no clear favorites in this group, so
every game is very important. The Blues were eliminated by Moldavian side Sheriff Tiraspol in the last qualifying rounds for the Champions League, so they will continue in Europe League. Dinamo will try to replicate last season's performances in the same competition when they made an eye-catching comeback against Jose Mourinho's Tottenham. As You probably know, Dinamo won 3:0 in Zagreb and secured a 3:2 aggregate victory to reach the quarter-finals where they were knocked out by eventual winners Villarreal. Coach Damir Krznar has several injury worries ahead of this match. First-choice goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic missed out the last domestic game with Sibenik and he is rated as doubtful. Most probably Danijel Zagorac will replace him between the sticks. Striker Mario Gavranovic and defender Dino Peric are definitely sidelined, while Macedonian international Arijan Ademi is another doubtful player.
West Ham achieved automatic participation in the Europe League after finishing 6th in the Premier League last season. For a long time they were between the teams involved in the Champions League battle, though the final placement was a great success for manager David Moyes and his players. The fans are pleased and it is understandable - their club will play competitive football in Europe for the first time since the 2016/17 season. The fans' expectations are big as they started the new domestic season in style. West Ham beat Newcastle with 4:2 in the opening round thanks to goals from Aaron Cresswell, Said Benrahma, Tomas Soucek and Michail Antonio. Leicester City were the next victims - Antonio's brace and goals from Pablo Fornals and Benrahma secured a high 4:1 win. After that West Ham shared the points on the next two matches against Crystal Palace and Southampton. Moyes will probably start with Michael Antonio. He was sent off at the weekend and can't play against Manchester United on Sunday, so he is a logical choice here. Most of the players are ready and some of them are looking for their debut in the starting eleven, like the summer signings Alphonse Areola, Kurt Zouma and Alex Kral
Dinamo Zagreb vs West Ham Prediction:
West Ham will not underestimated Dinamo, not after the last season's 3:0 win against Tottenham at Maksimir. They know the Croatians could be very dangerous. However, the quality is on guests' side. Moyes will surely make some changes, but I believe whoever starts, West Ham will beat Dinamo. According to me, Dinamo are not strong like the previous season as some important players left the club.
