Roma host the Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk at Stadio Olympico in the Europa Conference League. A victory here will secure a knock-out phase for the Italians, but Zorya players will also enter the match fully motivated knowing that they will move ahead of Roma on the second place in Group C with all three points. Roma won 3:0 the reverse fixture played in September. Stephan El Shaarawy scored the first goal after just six minutes, while the remaining two goals were scored in the second half. Chris Smalling found the back of the net in the 66th minute, while moments later Abraham escaped the offside because the final ball came off a defender rather than Nicolo Zaniolo and he finished it off calmly. Zorya also had few goal opportunities, but Rui Patricio was excellent and kept clean sheet.

Roma were in big crisis before the international break. Jose Mourinho came under big pressure, although his job was safe. The crisis culminated with a 6:1 defeat against Bodo Glimt in the Conference League. The Giallorossi had lot of problems with Genoa during the weekend, but youngster Felix Afena-Gyan brought three points with his brace in the finish of the match. It is clear Serie A is a priority for Mourinho, but he will want to make progress in the Conference League too. Winning here will guarantee the next stage of the competition. The Portuguese coach will probably rotate the players. The weekend's hero Afena-Gyan is in contention to replace some of the regular strikers Tammy Abraham or Eldor Shomurodov. In the midfield, Nicolo Zaniolo should start after remained an unused substitute against Genoa.

Zorya have six points and they are still in fight for a promotion spot in Group C. The Ukrainians started the campaign with two defeats, but then managed to register two victories after beating CSKA Sofia twice, home and away. The Bulgarians are arguably the weakest side in the group, however two victories must be respected. Allahyar Sayyadmanesh scored in both games and the 20-year-old now has eight goals to his name this season. Zorya are in solid form at the moment, though they lost 2:1 to Lviv in the last domestic fixture. As a result, Luhansk dropped to the fifth place in Ukraine's Premier Division. Coach Viktor Skrypnyk will try to rebuild the players confidence, but he must find the best lineup. Two key players - Juninho and Vladyslav Kabaev - who played only 45 minutes against Lviv, should both come into the starting eleven. As a result, Igor Snurnitsyn and Shabab Zahedi are in line to drop to the bench.

Roma vs Zorya Prediction:

Roma are huge favorites according to the bookmakers. But they aren't good like they were at the begin of the season. The last period was very frustrating for the fans. The Giallorossi have won just two of the last eight matches in all competitions. Zorya, meanwhile, have just one defeat on the last seven. The momentum is not on Roma side, so I expect the guests to cover the handicap, meaning they won't lose with more than one goal.

Roma vs. Zorya

Roma
is ready to play with the Luhansk team, although this meeting is far from being a priority for them. The bet on Serie A has not been canceled, and hence a certain rotation is requested. True, the Portuguese mentor noted that the three main players Tammy Abraham, Nicolo Zaniolo and Rui Patricio will definitely play in this meeting. The rest, however, offered the media to guess for themselves.

The Luhansk team should have approached the upcoming match with great positiveness. It would seem that their affairs in the UPL are going quite well: a long successful winning streak with an abundance of goals. Until the pause for the national teams' games, everything went according to plan, but the last game in the Ukrainian Premier League was far from the best for Luhansk: a well-deserved defeat in Lviv to the owners of the same name. True, it should not be ruled out that the upcoming European Cup match is also the culprit for the defeat in Lviv. Luhansk residents clearly had the upcoming fight in Rome in mind, so somewhere they tried to save their strength, perhaps not even go to the end in some moments. However, everything will become known already tonight: was it an economy of strength, or was it really a defeat for game reasons.

Prediction and Bet

The upcoming match will be different from the one in Zaporozhye. Firstly, the Luhansk team slightly corrected the situation in the domestic championship and adjusted their game. Hence the hope that they will attack a little more often than in the first fight. Secondly, the motivation of the two teams is several times higher: the European spring can depend on this meeting, both for the Romans and for the Ukrainians.
Considering the good performance of Zorya in the last rounds of the Premier League, I think that they will not leave Rome without goals. But the hosts obviously won't finish the match without a goal being scored, so a bet on the fact that both will score, in my opinion, looks pretty attractive.
