Quick question for everyone: what sport looks like it should be easy to bet on but actually destroys most bettors?

For me it's tennis. Seems simple - two players, one winner, no draws. But between retirements, tanking, surface differences, and motivation issues, I've never had a positive ROI on tennis despite thinking I understood it.

What's your trap sport?

Golf. Not even close.

Looks straightforward - pick a winner from the field. But with 150+ players, variance is insane. Your guy can play great and finish 8th.

Even sharp bettors struggle with golf. I avoid it entirely now.

Baseball for casuals.

Americans grow up watching it and think they understand it. Then they bet it and realize they know nothing about bullpen management, platoon splits, or how weather affects the ball.

Horse racing mate.

Looks dead simple innit.

Just pick the fastest horse yeah?

Then you learn about going, draw bias, jockey tactics, trainer form.

Lost a fortune before I gave up.

Golf correct answer statistically.

156 player field. Even best player has perhaps 8% win probability.

Expected value calculations nearly impossible with so many variables.

lads ive lost money on literally every sport so i cant really answer this... tennis golf football basketball darts... all of them destroy me equally...

Tony the tennis retirements alone make it unbettable. Guy's up a set and pulls out with an "injury." Did he tank? Was it real? You'll never know.

Brighton correct. Grand Slams have better integrity.

Smaller tournaments too much uncertainty. Players prioritizing rest over prize money.

What about darts?

Seems simple.

Turns out I know f**k all about darts.
