Manchester United will welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford in the derby match of Premier League this weekend. United opened the season with a 1:0 win over Fulham, but then weren't so successful winning just one of the remaining four league matches. To be worse, they suffered two painful defeats, losing to Brighton at Amex and losing to Liverpool at home in the third round. It was just another humiliation for Erik ten Hag. He is under big pressure, losing to Liverpool is always very frustrating for the fans. However, the last results are better - Man United are unbeaten on the last four matches across all competitions. The Red Devils beat Southampton in the Premier League and lower-division side Barnsley in the Carabao Cup, but played only draw with Crystal Palace and Twente. Ten Hag has some injury worries ahead of this match. He remains without four defenders with Leny Yoro, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof absent. New signing Manuel Ugarte, who came from Paris St-Germain for 50m Euros initial deal, brought some sort of stability. At least I think so.
Having fallen short last season, Tottenham started the new campaign with Champions League qualification as their primary aim. But the current results are not at desired level. Just as their actual rivals, Tottenham have collect seven points from the first five matches in the Premier League. The Spurs shared the points with Leicester City at King Power in the first round, while trashed Everton 4:0 in the second. And just when the fans start dreaming about one successful season, Ange Postecoglou's men suffered two painful defeats. They were beaten 2:1 at Newcastle United and lost 1:0 to Arsenal in North London derby. The victory against Brentford last weekend was very important to stay in touch with Top-4 rivals, but this one even more. Tottenham beat Qarabag 3:0 in UEFA Europa League during the midweek and I believe the players confidence is high at the moment. Postecoglou has the majority of his players available, but Wilson Odobert and Richarlison are confirmed absentees for the trip to Manchester.
Manchester United vs Tottenham Prediction:
I expect an open and efficient match, with at least four goals. Manchester United play at home and the players are under big pressure. The fans are asking for victory and Ten Hag has no space for calculations. Tottenham, meanwhile, are offensive-minded team under Postecoglou and they are able to score on
every game, home or away. The problem is they rarely kept clean sheet, just one on five league encounters. Solanke needed some time for acclimatization, but now started scoring. He netted a brace against Qarabag during the midweek and I expect more from him.
