Everton have started the season in awful way. In the first round they lost 1:0 to Fulham. To be worse, the defeat came at home and left the fans in fear of another season similar to the previous. The second round brought another disappointment. The Toffees suffered a high 4:0 loss to Aston Villa. It wasn't much different in the third round, even they hosted fellow strugglers Wolverhampton. The fans left Goodison Park frustrated as their team lost another fixture. Finally, Everton have collected the first point in the fourth match of the season. Expectations weren't high before the match with Sheffield United as Everton had failed to find the net in their opening three league games. However, midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, whose winning goal against Bournemouth on the final day of last season saved the Toffees from relegation, ended his side's run of 316 minutes without a Premier League goal. Nevertheless, the Blades turned out the result by scoring twice, but on-loan Arnaut Danjuma netted to salvage a point for Everton. I believe manager Sean Dyche is satisfied with the result, though the fans aren't. The injury-list is still long and that's an additional problem. Dele Alli, Seamus Coleman and Jack Harrison are definitely out, while four other are rate as doubtful - Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Andre Gomes, Michael Keane and Lewis Dobbin.
Arsenal share the second place with three other teams - Tottenham, Liverpool and West Ham. Each of them have won three of the first four matches in the Premier League, while shared the points in the remaining fixture. Manchester City are the only side with maximal effect. The Gunners managed to beat Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Manchester United, but dropped two points against Fulham. The fans left Emirates disappointed after a 2:2 draw with 10-men Fulham, but a dramatic 3:1 win over Manchester United made them very happy. Coach Mikel Arteta is doing an excellent job and the fans are satisfied. After many years, they will see Champions League football at the Emirates this season, starting from Wednesday clash with the Dutch outfit PSV. But on the other side, that means Arteta should find a form to rotate the players, starting from this match. It is quite different compared to the last season, a season without international duty. Three players are unavailable through injuries - Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny remains ruled out, while Jurrien Timber is out for the rest of the season.
Everton vs Arsenal Prediction:
Arsenal are in good form and they will try to collect the points here. However I believe the Toffees could score too. Last season Everton beat Arsenal at Goodison Park and I think that was the crucial match for both sides - Arsenal eventually lost the first place, while Everton avoid the relegation. I expect an efficient match now. The key reason for my pick is connect with the Gunners. They have three victories and one draw in the first four rounds, though they have experienced some defensive issues. The Gunners have conceded in three of these four fixtures, while scored on each of them. I think both teams will score in this match.
