West Ham United- Chelsea
Chelsea won their first trophy of the season on Sunday and could go a long way towards securing the second with all three points this evening, which will ensure they go into their rare free weekend at least five points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand. That would enable them to focus 100% on the return Champions League game with PSG next midweek and I suspect they would like to get the title all but done and dusted as quickly as possible and then concentrate on the international club tournament, not that the PSG game could be considered a "given". The Hammers have lost their way a little recently , have not won in six and conceded nine in their last three starts, they have a poor record against the Blues, losing 13 of 17 and have failed to score in the last four h2h meetings and did not manage a single attempt on target in the reverse fixture. The visitors match up incredibly well against United and are just stronger in the areas where the hosts are themselves productive, the Irons have scored an EPL high 15 headed goals this season, but Terry, Cahill, Ivanovic are unlikely to allow them too much joy in that area and that goes double in the absence of Andy Carroll and injuries and suspensions have stalled the Hammers season. At the weekend Crystal Palace scored three here and it was they who caused the problems aerially with two goals coming from headers and two from dead ball situations and Chelsea are going to have a big edge in these areas today, Ivanovic has scored in 4 of his last 7 starts, Terry scored the opener with a header the last time they met and I would not be surprised to see either score, both are circa 9.0 in the "anytime" market. But I will keep this simple and opt for 1.5 units Chelsea -1 ball 2.09 asian line/Sportmarket
