lads how’s things, long time lurker first time actually posting so go easy on me yeah

been reading this place for a while now, usually half cut on the sofa scrolling through threads after another “this is the one lads” acca goes up in flames, figured it was about time I stopped just creeping and actually joined in the misery and the craic

name’s Conor, Dublin lad, live city centre, work in a tech sales job that pays well some months and absolute buttons other months, which is probably not ideal when you’ve got a mild to medium gambling addiction on the side 😂

main poisons are:
  • GAA (Meath, god help us)
  • Premier League (Liverpool, god help us again)
  • random in-play overs when I should 100% just turn the phone off
I am the king of “this is definitely hitting lads” at 78 minutes on an over 2.5 when it’s still 0–0 and I’m already down a couple hundred for the weekend, and OF COURSE it finishes 0–0 and I’m there like an eejit wondering how it all went wrong… again

to be fair I’ve actually picked up a few decent habits from reading here – tracking bets a bit more, not smashing full bank on the late game just because I’m tilted, trying to pretend money is real – so I’m hoping if I post more and lurk less I might actually get my act together a bit

anyway just wanted to say hello properly instead of silently sweating other people’s bets in the background, looking forward to chatting sh*te with ye during matches and maybe sharing a few picks when I’m not being a complete gobshite about it 😅

You’re already ahead of a lot of people just by admitting, in public, that you might have a problem and that your “this is definitely hitting lads” routine is costing you money instead of making it.

If you actually want things to improve, here’s the boring but effective starting point:
  • Track every single bet in units, odds and stake. No exceptions.
  • Set a fixed bankroll that you’re genuinely prepared to lose and stick to a stake size.
  • No more “late game hero” stuff when you’re tilted – that’s where most of the damage happens.
You’re clearly self-aware and you’ve been lurking long enough to see how this usually ends if nothing changes. Use the forum for accountability, not just craic and bad beat therapy.

Glad you finally stopped lurking and posted. Now make it count.
