With 2019 now behind us and a brand-new year to look forward to, we have some exciting sporting events on the schedule for this year. One of the highlights will undoubtedly be the upcoming 2020 Olympic Games which will take place in beautiful Tokyo, Japan. We will here see some of the greatest athletes in the world heading to Japan with the dreams of hitting it big and walking away with that lustrous gold-medal.
All in all, organizers are expecting to see well over 10,000 participants arrive in Tokyo to partake in the Olympics, starting on July 24th and ending on August 9th. Main venue for the event will be a newly built National Stadium and will be the main venue for all track and field related events.
This is of course a special occasion given that the Olympic games are only held every 4 years with the last event held in Rio in 2016. It´s not like the Kentucky Derby 2020 horse race which is held every year. So, expect to see some interesting bets and offers when we start getting closer to the event. Given the number of different events and sports, there won’t be a shortage of games offered nor some exciting games at that.
Choosing the right bets at the 2020 Olympic Games
With just months left until the 2020 Olympics kick off, we are bound to start seeing bookmakers adding events such as who will win the 100 or 200m sprint, who will take home the men’s or women’s long jump and who will manage to endure the 42km marathon the best and in the shortest possible time? These are but a few of the events that will take place in and around this new Stadium. Other events on the schedule includes swimming, tennis and cycling amongst others.
One event that often attracts some of the biggest names in the sport is the Olympic golf event. The one held in Rio back in 2016 saw British star Justin Rose take home the title, two strokes ahead of Swedish golf star Henrik Stenson. Rose also managed to write Olympic golf history by becoming the first golfer to ever score a hole-in-one at an Olympic event.
This year’s event is expected to be just as exciting as it was back in 2016 and you are sure to find some thrilling bets to play just before it kicks off.
Biggest events, golf, tennis and sprint
Besides golf, Olympic tennis also often see some of the greatest names in the game attend this prestigious event which also was the case back in 2016 when players such as Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and David Ferrer attended the event. The biggest upset here was how Novak Djokovic was knocked out in the first round by Argentinian Juan Martin del Potro, who would then manage to make it all the way to the finals where he went up against Andy Murray and lost.
But the most exciting event after all will be the sprint events and of course the men´s 100 and 200m sprints. IN 2016 we had the pleasure of watching the fastest man ever, Usain Bolt, win the 100m sprint with a final time of 9.81s, beating the 2004 Olympic champion Justin Gatlin from USA, by two hundred of a second.
With the win in both the 100 and the 200m sprints, Usain had by this time won no less than eight Olympic gold medals, more than any other sprinter previously ever succeeded with and most likely a record that will stand for a long time to come. Bolt will not be attending the Tokyo 2020 events meaning the titles in the sprint events will be up for grabs. He is said to make a special appearance during the opening ceremony on July 24th but in what appearance, is yet to be confirmed.
