Ajax vs Roma Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Ajax:
Scherpen; Tagliafico, Alvarez, Martinez, Timber; Gravenberch, Klaassen, Rensch; Antony, Tadic, Neres

Roma:
Lopez; Mancini, Cristante, Ibanez; Bruno Perez, Veretout, Villar, Spinazzola; Pellegrini, Pedro; Dzeko

Ajax host Roma in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam. The Dutch Giants initially played in the Champions League, but finished as third behind Liverpool and Atalanta. They continued in UEFA Europa League and so far really impressed. Ajax faced French side Lille in the first knock-out stage and won twice with identical 2:1. In the second round they obtained another two victories, this time against Young Boys from Switzerland. Coach Erik ten Hag's men won 3:0 at home and then won 2:0 away. The last domestic results are also good. Ajax managed to beat Heerenveen with 2:1 during the weekend and now have an 11-point lead at the top of the table. It seems only a miracle could prevent them from the 35th domestic crown. The players confidence is high and this is a match they must enter fully motivated. All eyes are focused on captain Dusan Tadic who's the player able to make a difference. The hosts have some injury worries ahead of this match. Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg is doubtful due to a knee injury. Interesting to be mentioned, he spent two seasons with Roma making 55 appearances. Netherlands U-21 goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen could therefore make his European debut as Andre Onana is still excluded through a doping offense. Defenders Noussair Mazraoui and experienced Daley Blind are out injured due to head and knee injury respectively. The record signing Sebastien Haller is ineligible to play in Europa League due to an administrative error made by club officials. Jurrien Timber made his return from COVID-19 infection at the weekend and should start in the defense once again.

Roma were excellent during the group stage of the competition. The Italians won twice against Young Boys and CFR Cluj, while lost only to CSKA Sofia in the last round in a match without competitive value. In the first knock-out stage Roma eliminated the Portuguese side Braga. The Giallorossi won twice - 2:0 as guests and then 3:1 at Stadio Olimpico. The next victims were Shakhtar Donetsk from Ukraine. Roma secured another double victory, 3:0 at home and 2:1 away. Nevertheless, the last domestic results are not at desired level. Roma suffered successive defeats to relegation-threatened Parma and Champions League rivals Napoli. To be worse, they dropped another two points for the weekend playing a 2:2 draw with mid-table Sassuolo. Roma are currently on the seventh place and there is a serious danger of missing out the Champions League spots. Coach Paulo Fonseca is under big pressure and he needs success in Europe more than anything. The Portuguese tactician also has some injury issues ahead the trip to Netherlands. Stephan El Shaarawy will miss the match after suffering a thigh injury. He was forced off in the 74th minute of the match against Sassuolo and has now been ruled out of both legs of this quarter-final tie. Defender Marash Kumbulla sustained an injured meniscus on international duty for Albania and will miss the rest of the season. This is a huge problem for Fonseca as Chris Smalling is also injured, while Rick Karsdorp is suspended. Nicolo Zaniolo continues his recovery from a knee ligaments injury, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan remain sidelined. Jordan Veretout has recovered from a thigh injury sustained before the international break and could play here. Edin Dzeko should lead the line, but it won't be a big surprise if Borja Mayoral start again.

Ajax vs Roma Prediction:

Ajax are in excellent form and the players confidence is high. Having on mind they are hosts, I expect an offensive approach. Roma are far from their best form at the moment, but they have scored 10 goals on the last four European fixtures. Plus, Ajax have problem on the goalkeeper's position, Onana is suspended, while Stekelenburg is doubtful due to a knee injury. Roma should also score, so I expect at least three goals in Amsterdam.

Arsenal vs Slavia prediction

Arsenal under the leadership of Arteta is precisely a cup team, and therefore it is not surprising that there are daredevils who are confident of a win for the Canaries in the UEFA Champions League. And they shows themselves quite well on the European stage. The first defeat in 10 games happened only in the last game. True, this "loss" already meant nothing, because in the first match Oli lost 1:3.

Arsenal are in the Europa League playoff for the 4th time in a row. In the last draw, they failed to qualify even in the 1/8 round. But in the previous 2 seasons, the team appeared in the finals and semi-finals.

David Luiz will not be able to appear on the field. Still in doubt: Tierney, Jaka, Smith Rowe and Saka.

Few expected to see Slavia Prague in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. Nevertheless, the Czechs are here. In the previous rounds, they passed fairly serious opponents - Leicester and Rangers.

In general, against representatives of the APL Slavia performs not too well on the European stage: only 2 wins, 3 world results and 8 defeats.

A few words about how Trpisovski's squad is performing this season on the road. The results: 3 victories and 3 defeats. In the 3 previous matches there was recorded a pass on the bet "both to score - no".

David Hovorka certainly will not appear on the field. Ondřej Kudela is still in question.

With all due respect to Slavia, and the way the team has gone this season, I don't think the Czechs have a chance of success in this match. First of all, Arsenal with all their problems, always play well at home. Secondly, now the Canaries will be angry with themselves after the defeat against Liverpool, and will try to rehabilitate. Thirdly, Slavia will no longer be treated as upstarts, but as a solid team.

My prediction is Home Win @ 1,6

Arsenal vs Slavia Prague Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Arsenal:
Leno; Bellerin, Holding, Gabriel, Cedric; Partey, Elneny; Saka, Odegaard, Pepe; Lacazette

Slavia Prague:
Vagner; Bah, Zima, Hromada, Boril; Holes, Sevcik; Sima, Stanciu, Olayinka; Kuchta

Arsenal welcome Slavia Prague from Czech Republic in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final at the Emirats Stadium. The Gunners are big favorites in this clash, mostly thanks to their previous results in the competition. Arsenal are between the most efficient sides in the competition with 27 goals in 10 games. At the same time, Arsenal won eight of these 10 games. They played six games in the group stage and won all of them, beating twice Molde, Rapid Vienna and Dundalk. In the first knock-out stage Arsenal have eliminated the Portuguese side Benfica. The Gunners played 1:1 in Lisaboa, while won 3:2 in London. The next victims were Olympiakos from Greece. Arsenal won 3:1 as guests, but suffered a narrow 1:0 defeat at home. Nevertheless, the last domestic results are not at desired level. Arsenal suffered a heavy 3:0 home defeat to Liverpool during the weekend. Arteta has some additional issues as some players are struggling with injuries. David Luiz undergo surgery on a knee problem and remain out, while Kieran Tierney is reportedly facing at least one month on the sidelines. Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe failed late fitness tests before the visit of Liverpool and they are both rated as doubtful for this match. Midfielder Granit Xhaka is also a doubt through illness. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was awful against Liverpool and could be removed from the starting eleven, particularly if one or both of Saka and Smith Rowe recover.

Slavia Prague secured progress after won four matches in the group stage. They managed to beat French side Nice twice, Bayer Leverkusen and Hapoel Ber Sheva. The knock-out stage brought three British teams, including Arsenal. Slavia were better that Leicester City and Glasgow Rangers. What is important to be mentioned, Slavia won both matches they played as guests with the same result - 2:0. Lukas Provod and Abdallah Sima were the scorers at King Power, while Peter Olayinka and Nicolae Stanciu found the back of the net in Glasgow. So, they are coming at British soil for the third consecutive time and will be looking for the third consecutive victory. Nevertheless, this is the hardest match. Their only previous visit to the Emirates Stadium in London ended with a catastrophe, losing 7:0 in the 2007/08 Champions League group stage. It is positive they are in excellent form and the players confidence is very high at the moment. Coach Jindrich Trpisovsky has big injury and suspension worries ahead of this match, particularly in the defense. Ondrej Kudela has been suspended for one match by UEFA as they investigate alleged racism from him to Rangers' Glen Kamara. Two more central defenders - Simon Deli and David Hovorka - are also unavailable. First-choice goalkeeper Ondrej Kolar will probably miss the match due to a sinus fracture, meaning the 18-year-old Matyas Vagner should start in goal.

Arsenal vs Slavia Prague Prediction:

I expect both teams to score at the Emirats. Arsenal are hosts, they will go for the victory. The Gunners managed to score 14 goals on 5 home fixtures in the competition, an average of almost 3 goals per game. It is true they didn't score against Olympiakos, but there is an excuse - Arsenal won 3:1 on the first match in Athens. Now about Slavia Prague, are they able to score? I think so. The Czech outfit scored twice in Leicester and Glasgow, they also netted three goals in Nice during the group stage, so I think they are definitely capable of upsetting Leno too.

Granada CF

Granada has not performed well in recent games. The past 2 league games have suffered a streak of losses. Their recent defense has a big problem. They have conceded 3 consecutive games and lost a total of 7 goals. The team is now far from the Europa League qualification, so it will go all out in this game.

Manchester United

Manchester United performed well in the league. They defeated Brighton in the last round. There is no problem in keeping the top 4, and there is no hope of winning the title, they should try their best in this game, because the Europa League has become their only hopeful champion.

Verdict:

Manchester United has a great advantage, and they have only lost 1 game in the last 10 games, their morale is very good. The 1X2 first odd is 5.50-3.80-1.62, obvious support the away team. Manchester United should win this game.

Arsenal

Arsenal's recent state is very poor. They have lost all of the past 3 matches. They lost to Liverpool 0-3 at home in the last round, which is the biggest blow to morale. Fortunately, their fighting spirit in the league this season is relatively low. In this knockout, they will definitely go all out.

Slavia Praha

Manchester United performed well in the league. They defeated Brighton in the last round. There is no problem in keeping the top 4, and there is no hope of winning the title, they should try their best in this game, because the Europa League has become their only hopeful champion.

Verdict:

In terms of fame, there is a big gap between the two sides. But Arsenal is now regressing greatly, and it is not easy to win. The 1X2 first odd is 1.44-4.50-7.00, still support the away team. Arsenal should win this game.
