Former Chelsea and Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has returned to his first club Atletico Madrid on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Torres who signed a new two deal with AC Milan after a loan deal with Chelsea was allowed to return to Spain by the Italian club.

Torres joined Liverpool from Athletico and made 102 appearances for the club scoring 65 goals. He then signed for Chelsea in January 2011 for a then British record of 50 million.

Torres won the Champions League and the Europa League and the FA Cup with Chelsea but he endured a difficult time only scoring 20 goals for the London club in 110 league appearances.

Torres Lacks Confidence
In ten appearances for AC MIlan he only found the net once and he will be hoping this latest move will provide him with much needed confidence.

On twitter he said “at last back home”.

Seven and a half years later after leaving for Liverpool the Spain forward is back and the 30 year will be keen to get back amongst the goals. A member of the Spanish World Cup winning squad he has scored 38 goals in 110 international appearances so the pedigree is there for all to see.

Almost a case of last chance saloon for a player who was once regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe.
