Today’s Football News: Neville slams Liverpool and Arsenal, Cech is going nowhere and Oyston says sorry for text outburst…

Liverpool and Arsenal don’t have it anymore – Neville
Liverpool and Arsenal’s 2-2 draw is further evidence that the declining Premier League is now a fading force in European soccer, according to pundit Gary Neville.

After Chelsea moved to the top with an easy 2-0 victory at Stoke, Neville slammed the Reds and the Gunners for lacking balance and intensity – criticism that is bound to provoke a major reaction on Merseyside and North London.

Neville declared on SKY television: “I was immensely disappointed with the game. I didn’t enjoy it. Atletico Madrid – there’s a team that resemble a top side. We’ve really dropped below this level of intensity. Chelsea have got it. City have it a bit, but Liverpool’s games with Arsenal and United were a million miles away from being big games.”

Chelsea’s Cech going nowhere – yet
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech looks set to stay at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season.

His agent admitted that a January move is not on the cards. But the club’s No.2 goalkeeper left open the door for a transfer after revealing he would be interests in a switch to rivals Arsenal or Liverpool. But only if they were interested.

Czech Republic international Cech had been the first choice keeper for the best part of a decade, but his starting place has been taken by Thibaut Courtois for much of this season. His agent Viktor Kolar said: “He is unlikely to leave. The club and coach want to keep him to help win the title. Liverpool need to strengthen their position in goal and they know Petr will be available in the summer. We’ve been in contact with Real Madrid, but they don’t need a goalkeeper just now. We will discussed it again in March.”

Oyston says sorry for text outburst
Shamed Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has apologised after branding one of the club fans a “retard” after a series of texts which we sent were published.

He came under fierce criticism from a section of supporters who also demanded his resignation. The club is bottom of the Championship and struggling desperately to avoid relegation. He sits on the Football League’s board of directors and even though the FA has not announced an investigation into the affair, Oyston clearly felt it was time to hold his hands up.

He said: “I would like to unreservedly apologise for any offence or distress caused by my text responses reported in the media recently.” One supporters was labelled a “retard” and an “intellectual cripple.”

Cech has to finally go, he is old already.
