Milan will welcome the city rivals Inter in a derby known as 'Derby della Madonnina'. This is one of the most awaited encounters in world football, and both teams display great attitude in the match. It is one of only few city derbies that are always played in the same stadium. The venue is named "San Siro" when Milan are the hosts, or "Giuseppe Meazza" when Inter. It is called "Derby della Madonnina" in honour of one of the main sights in the city of Milan, the statue of the Virgin Mary on the top of the Duomo, which is often referred to as the "Madonnina" ("Little Madonna" in English). The first derby match between Milan and Inter was held in the final of the Chiasso Cup of 1908, a football tournament played in Canton Ticino (Switzerland), on 18 October. The Rossoneri won 2:1.

AC Milan are sharing the seventh place with Bologna as both teams have 34 points. The fans are not satisfied, they were expecting a fight for the Scudetto. Or at least to be in the Champions League spots. However, their current deficit stands at 16 points, and it is too big. Nevertheless, the Rossoneri showed they are capable to upset any team in Italy and Europe. Inter were between the victims as they lost the recent Supercoppa Italiana final in Saudi Arabia. New boss Sergio Conceicao is already feeling some pressure and the result from this match is very important. The Portuguese coach has some injury worries too. Emerson Royal, Malick Thiaw, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and long-term absentee Alessandro Florenzi are all sidelined, while Youssouf Fofana must serve a suspension.

Inter are second on the table with 50 points, three less than leaders Napoli, with match in hand. The current form is solid, they are in series of four victories across all competitions. Two of them were obtained in the Champions League where they beat Sparta Prague and Monaco, while two victories were in Serie A. The Nerazzurri managed to beat Empoli and Lecce. A total of 11 goals were scored, while just one conceded. The atmosphere in the squad is excellent, while the players confidence is high. Simone Inzaghi has the majority of his players ready, but Joaquin Correa is sidelined due to injury. In addition, the ex-Milan player Hakan Calhanoglu and veteran defender Francesco Acerbi are doubtful due to calf and hamstring injury respectively.

AC Milan vs Inter Prediction:

I expect an interesting match here. Inter are big favorites, and I think they will win. Simply, the quality is on their side. They have players able to make a difference. Lautaro Martinez is the Nerazzurri's most dangerous player, but there are more, like Marcus Thuram. Even Denzel Dumfries has to be mentioned, he scored in each of his last three top-flight appearances. Milan are very inconsistent, they lost 2:1 to Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Wednesday. Previously they beat Parma after scoring in the stoppage time, but the dramatic victory was overshadowed by a heated row between Davide Calabria and Sergio Conceicao. It is clear the atmosphere in the squad is far from ideal, so I think Inter will take advantage from Milan's issues.
