Only 13 days ago the Cazoo Derby became the biggest World Pool race ever in the UK with £6.3M bet into the pool and now the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot has surpassed that with a pot of £6.9M.
Racing Director Jamie Hart explains: “We did stick our neck out and say we would break this year’s Derby record during Royal Ascot and we have hit the crossbar a few times but now with a day to go we have broken that too. I’m convinced we’ll go bigger again in tomorrow’s Platinum Jubilee Stakes with so much international interest in the race, but what is clear is the World Pool has captured the imagination of every type of punter and that’s hugely exciting for the future of racing across the globe.”
