Jones vs Smith is one more great fight of Ultimate Fighting Championship. It’s the main event of UFC 235 which will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both light heavyweights will have a serious confrontation. Review our thoughts on this bout here below.
On the 2nd of March Jones “Bones” Jones (23-1) will defend his light heavyweight (205 pounds) title against challenger Anthony “Lionheart” Smith (31-13) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Smith has not been shy to insult Jones of doping in several interviews but the topic of steroids was not discussed during a confrontation following Jones’ win over Gustafsson at UFC 232. Jones instead at the suggestion of Smith as an opponent and then accepted a fight. Who will be a winner? Jon Jones? Or it will be Anthony Smith? All answers will be answered on the 2nd of March.

Jones “Bones” Jones
Jon Jones is one of the greatest Mixed Martial Artists of all time. Despite his all personal issues, suspensions, and steroids stories, he is a champion. A champion who has never been beaten, moreover, never lost his title in the fight. After a 15-month suspension, for the metabolite of oral turinabol, a steroid which was found in Jones’ system after an in-competition drug test for his fight against Daniel Cormier in July 2017. However, Jones came back at UFC 232 and recaptured his belt at with his third-round stoppage of Alexander Gustafsson. Now he is looking forward and trying to achieve his biggest goal – be the GOAT.
As long as his constant out of the cage issues don’t continue to derail him, Jon Jones will go down as the greatest fighter in the sport’s history. He has a lot of strengths. His is an extremely dangerous fighter, very smart, very well coached. “Bones” is a complete and diverse striker – punches, elbows, knees, kicks, among the most dangerous elbows in the game. He is also extremely good MMA wrestler, has a superb takedown defense, very good with submissions. Jon Jones is considered the best athlete in the history of the sport, it seems like he doesn’t have any weaknesses. His only weaknesses are his issues outside the cage, and maybe sometimes he is too much confident and underestimates his opponents.

Anthony “Lionheart” Smith
Anthony Smith definitely isn’t a fighter to underestimate. Smith is a former middleweight. He has won three straight since moving up to 205 against great light heavyweights like Rashad Evans (KO), Mauricio Rua (KO) and Volkan Oezdemir (Submission). “Lionheart” is quite confident heading to the fight with Jones. “I can expose the holes in Jon Jones,” he said at one interview to ESPN.
In addition, Anthony Smith has solid conditioning and a dangerous offense. He is an aggressive fighter, moreover, lands a lot of shots in the fight. Smith is very willing to take a shot in an effort to land one. That certainly is not the safest, kind of risky strategy but “Lionheart” was stopped by strikes just one time in 7 years. Challenger isn’t much of an offensive wrestler, as a result, his takedown defense is not really good. Smith’s flat-footed kickboxing and height have resulted in many easy takedowns for his opponent. One thing American does very well – use the overlook in the clinch.
