This is "Derby della Capitale", a match between Lazio and Roma. According to locals, this derby is "much more than just a game." The Roman derby has been the scene of several actions related to the political views of the fan bases. Lazio's ultras often use fascist symbols on their banners and they have displayed racist behavior in several occasions during the derbies. Most notably at a derby of the season 1998/99 when the Laziali unfurled a 50-metre banner around the Curva Nord that read, "Auschwitz is your town, the ovens are your houses".

Remarkably, Lazio reflects its fans' sentiments. Unlike Roma or almost every other team in the Series A, Lazio's roster is devoid of black players. When it once imported one, Dutchman Aron Winter, he quickly left after the team's fans hounded him with chants of "nigger Jew." Black players of Roma have often been receivers of racist and offensive behavior; a banner that Lazio's ultras had once displayed claimed that Roma is a "Team of niggers followed by Jews". In 2000 Lazio fans showed their support for Serbian nationalist and war criminal Zeljko Raznjatovic - Arkan. Officially, the club have distanced itself from these fans, who make up a minority, and fights to combat these kind of actions.

This week Lazio fans have aimed another anti-Semitic slur at Roma. ‘Romanista Anna Frank' was spray-painted across a wall in the Circo Massimo area of Rome, along with a swastika and the initials. Police arrived at the scene immediately to remove the anti-Semitic remark. "The writing on a wall that appeared near the Circo Massimo horrifies me," Rome mayor Virginia Raggi wrote on Twitter. Nicola Zingaretti, President of the Lazio Region, added: "Some thugs have used football as a platform for their seedy insults once more." In October 2017, Lazio supporters left images of Frank in a Roma kit and anti-Semitic messages in the Curva Sud at the Olimpico after their win against Cagliari.

Here are some interesting statistical facts. The first derby was played on 8 December 1929, and finished 1:0 for Roma. The first goalscorer was Rodolfo Volk. Lazio won its first derby almost three years later, on 23 October 1932. The highest victory in a derby was the 5:0 win of Roma during the season 1933/34. However, Lazio holds the record of the most victories in a single season - four during the season 1997/98. The two sides have met twice in Serie A and twice in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia. Lazio won 3:1 and 2:0 in the league, and 4:1 and 2:1 in the cup. In one occasion the derby was played as a Coppa Italia Final, on 26 May 2013. Lazio won 1:0 thanks to Senad Lulic's goal. Francesco Totti is the all-time top scorer in the Derby della Capitale with 11 goals.

As of 29 September 2018, there have been 149 competitive meetings between the teams in Serie A. Roma have won 54 and Lazio 37, while the remaining 58 games finished as draws. The reverse fixture played in September finished with a 3:1 win for Roma. Pellegrini, Kolarov and Fazio scored the goals for the winner, while Immobile was scorer for Lazio.

Now about the match. Lazio sit in 6th place, with 38 points, but have a match in hand, against Udinese. That means victories on these two games could put Lazio tied on points with Roma. The actual form is poor, even the Biancocelesti have two victories on the last three matches in Serie A. They managed to beat Frosinone and Empoli, both with 1:0, however, they lost 1:2 from Genoa in the last league match. In addition, they suffered a painful elimination from UEFA Europe League. Lazio lost both games from Sevilla, 0:1 at home and 0:2 in Spain. On Tuesday they played a goalless draw with Milan in Coppa Italia first-leg semifinal. That means Lazio are without a single victory in their last four outings across all competitions, recording three defeats and scoring just one goal in the process. Coach Simone Inzaghi is feeling some pressure, as well as the players. Key player Ciro Immobile is out of form as he has just one league goal since December. Lazio's injury issues have eased and Inzaghi has most of his players available, but Valon Berisha, Jordan Lukaku and Wallace remain out injured.

Roma are currently fifth, just outside the Champions League spots. The Giallorossi are a point behind Milan in fourth and only two shy of Inter in third, so the points from this match are very important. Eusebio Di Francesco's men are in good form at the moment, with four wins in their last four matches in all competitions. They managed to beat Chievo, Bologna and Frosinone in Serie A, as well as Porto in Europe. The atmosphere in the squad is positive, while the players confidence is higher. Just to mention, Roma have lost just one of their last 12 matches in Serie A and they are the third highest scoring team in the league with 49 goals. The Giallorossi have the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Porto on Wednesday, so Di Francesco may decide to rest some of his key players. Defender Kostas Manolas is rated as doubtful and may not be risked here. The 27-years-old Greek international was replaced by Federico Fazio for the final 13 minutes of Roma’s 3:2 win over Frosinone last weekend. The tests on his right ankle showed a 'light' strain and he should make a full recovery by Saturday. Patrik Schick is definitely out of the derby.

Lazio vs Roma Prediction:

I expect Roma to win the derby. The Giallorossi are in excellent form at the moment. They are in series of four victories across all competitions. The atmosphere in the squad is positive, while the players confidence is high. Lazio, meanwhile, have lost three of the last four matches, scoring just one goal. Key player Ciro Immobile is out of form as he has just one league goal since December. I expect Lazio to continue struggling.

The beginning has been for Bayern, which has reached a shot distance from champion Dortmund and is now called to carry out its final counterattack for overtaking the title. Derby has the menu today and specifically in the headquarters of Gladbach, a difficult seat, but Bayern has the quality to get the points of victory

Like every time this season, at the crucial turning point of the season, Tottenham Hotspur takes off and any title dreams are lost. Two consecutive defeats with Burnley and Chelsea, who bring her back, while in front of her is the London derby with the raised Arsenal. "Gunners" come from two straight wins with Southampton (2-0) and Bournemouth (5-10), again having a good morale. Logic says a lot of goals
