My advice to new players is not to use this system. It\'s really old and inefective.
All you do is you can end up with a big big losses due to that you multply the stake with every lost hand. I know people that blew away thousands of dollars in this way.
Say no to Martingale

Of course, martingales is used by new gamblers. Unexperienced.
This is the most known and also the most stupid system.

I can’t really go on with this system, after 3 losing bets I return to my initial stake. I think reverse Martingale will be much safer.

Search Google for more detail, but basically you double up losing (even money) roulette bets until you eventually win. Your win gives you enough to cover all preceding losses and a profit equal to your original bet stake. The theory underlying the system is that a losing streak doesn't last forever so eventually you have to win.

Problem with the system is that table limits hinder your ability to keep doubling up, and regardless, streaks can last a long time. At the end of the day each spin is a unique event from a probability standpoint and even without table limits the sytem has been proven to me mathematically flawed.

Upshot - casinos aren't scared of this system. You shouldn't use it.

Indeed Martingale can result in big losses in the end. However it is a simple method and compared to its simplicity it is quite efferctive. I think if you play it only occasinonally in casinos where the minimum stake is low, you can make some nice profits however. Just quit early, don't play all night long, because a bad run of numbers can fall in and it will kill your balance. Also when you start the progression, you don't need to bet for the first few rounds of the progression. For example you can finance a progression of 10 betting rounds. Before starting the progression, wait 1, 2, 3, 4 or any rounds that you feel like, and in case all loose, start betting, starting with the first bet amount of your progression, and in case you loose the round, continue the progression. This delay can provide you with extra chance for being able to finance your progression. This way a 10 round progression can grow 14.

Also it is useful to observe the behavior of the ball. There are sessions when the ball likes to hit only one colour. When such runs appear, take a break, and when the 'numbers hit' board is more colorful, start betting again. ;)

If you lose 3-4 bets in a row you're going to be in trouble regardless of what system you use!

This martingale is a take off from the German martingale and can be easily and inexpensively made at home. Twister says he uses the cowboy martingale in order to get results without using a great deal of rein pressure. It gives a rider an edge in controlling the horse's head. The first person Twister saw using this apparatus was Ray Hall, a reining horse trainer, from Colburn, Colorado.

Thank you for this nice advice. Actually, I'm not more familiar with this but when I read this thread, I got some information about it. :)

I don't follow the martingale seriously but I do use the strategy when playing roulette sometimes just for fun. Ill use it like 3 times in a row but after 3 losses in a row I usually walk. In the long run this system does not work, largely due to the fact that sooner or later, you will hit the tables max bet limit.. It works in small amounts but when you start to lose you lose big and fast.

No, I use the bet on red and pray method lol. Every now and then I will take a more dangerous bet, but never on a single number. Unless I have been drinking a lot, then a may put a chip down on green zero EVERY TIME I take red too. This can help make gambling more exciting than a (almost) 50/50 game. Once I hit 4 greens in a row... but don't worry, I played it all back. :)

Other players find this strategy really effective, but others consider it rubbish. For me, it’s a matter of finding the good strategy that will work with our gaming style. We all have different way of gaming, it’s better to try different strategies and choose the one that lets you win big cash.
