Angers vs. Saint Etienne Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Angers:
Petkovic; Mendy, Traore, Manceau; Bamba, Bentaleb, Mangani, Fulgini, Lage; Brahimi, Ninga

Saint-Etienne:
Green; Macon, Nade, Kolodziejczak, Silva; Camara, Gourna-Douath; Nordin, Aouchiche, Sako; Krasso

Angers welcome Saint Etienne to the Stade Raymond Kopa three weeks after the postponement of the original fixture due to COVID-19. Coach Gerald Baticle's side are in the middle of the table with 29 points. A victory here could see them sharing the 9th place. Even more, they will come within touching distance to European spots. Theoretically, Les Scoistes could be leveled on points with under-performing champions Lille. That is why I believe the players motivation will be very high. Angers are in solid form at the moment - one win and one draw on the last two matches in Ligue 1. They played a goalless draw away at Lorient, while registered a 2:1 home win against Troyes on Sunday. The opponents took advantage after 11 minutes thanks to Brandon Domingues, but Angers turned out the result after Thomas Mangani converted two penalties, both in the first half. However, Baticle has lot of unavailable players for this match. Souleyman Doumbia is serving the second of a two-game ban following his red card against Lorient. Four additional players are at the Africa Cup of Nations - Sofiane Boufal (Morocco), Stephane Bahoken (Cameroon), Enzo Ebosse (Cameroon) and Azzedine Ounahi (Morocco). That's not all as Romain Thomas, Zinedine Ould Khaled and Mohamed-Ali Cho are struggling with injuries. Jimmy Cabot, who left the match against Troyes with an ankle injury, is rated as doubtful. The absence of Boufal is arguably the biggest handicap for the hosts as he has 5 goals and 3 assists to his name.

Saint Etienne are at the bottom of the table. They have collected just 12 points and they are seven adrift of 18th placed Metz and eight adrift of 17th-placed Bordeaux and Troyes. By the way, the 18th place means participation in play-out fixture, while the 17th position means full safety. The actual form is poor, they are in series of seven defeats in Ligue 1. Even worse, they failed to score a single goal on the last three matches played on road. The club officials reacted in December by sacking coach Claude Puel, while Pascal Dupraz was announced as new boss. He has experience in the relegation battle as five years ago he took charge at Toulouse as they sat at the bottom of the table in Ligue 1. Under his guidance, Toulouse managed to overcome a 10-point gap to beat relegation on the last day of the season. The fans are hoping he will create another miracle with Saint Etienne. But right now he has lot of issues. He will be without many important players. Five are on international duty: Harold-Desty Moukoudi (Cameroon), Denis Bouanga (Gabon), Saidou Sow (Guinea), Wahbi Khazri (Tunisia) and Yvan Neyou (Cameroon). Three players - Romain Hamouma, Miguel Trauco and Ryad Boudebouz - remain sidelined through injuries. Paul Bernardoni and Sada Thioub are ineligible to face their parent club. Finally, Eliaquim Mangala and Joris Gnagnon can't play as they arrived at the club after the date that the fixture was initially scheduled.

Angers vs. Saint Etienne Prediction:

Angers should win this match. The actual form is the key reason for my pick. Saint Etienne are in series of seven defeats and the players confidence is low. Angers, meanwhile, have one win and one draw on the last two matches in Ligue 1. Both teams have lot of missing players, however I think Saint Etienne's handicap are bigger. Finally, the quality, as well as motivation, are on Angers side.

Wow, what is happening with Saint Etienne. This season i'm watching super rear League 1. But till now didn't noticed how team like Saint Etienne is chilling on last place. Downgrade from the last season is huge. In my opinion Angers will beat them.

Definitely agree with what has been written here.

The only con of this bet is Angers miss players too, but when you look at St. Etienne's absences... it's all okay.

Angers to win!

In my eyes according to what i saw last 2 round, it's good to play over 0.5 goals in First half, if the game is still 0:0 after 20th minute. Usually after 20th minute odds are around 1.8/9.

Angers is one of the most steady performing teams in France this season in terms of capacity and capabilities at their disposal , they can make any opponent’s game hellishly complex and difficult. The visitors to the great regret of the neutral spectator are almost powerless this is one of their last chances for serious grit and character if they want to fight for relegation , they are in last position , but every point in this championship can prove valuable in the end.The hosts on the other hand if they win will overtake the champion Lille and Lyon , which is not bad as an achievement , a first win in the new year will give them strength against the wounded visitors . The visitors have now lost 7 league games in a row ,which is strange for this championship as a series. Angers possible starting lineup: Petkovic; Mendy, Traore, Manceau; Bamba, Bentaleb, Mangani, Fulgini, Lage; Brahimi, Ninga
Saint-Etienne possible starting lineup: Green; Macon, Nade, Kolodziejczak, Silva; Camara, Gourna-Douath; Nordin, Aouchiche, Sako; Krasso
These are the probable starting 11 , it is possible that there will be a lot of young players in some position , there are a lot of problems around the two squads and injured and players at the African tournament , close to 8 players , that more are out of the squads at the moment , it is completely pointless to list and more important , and there are such details. Both teams can’t boast of solid defences , more so now , given that the very structure of the teams lack important names , then on first reading goal/goal stands out as an option at not bad odds . There is another option that fits this match and it is corners for the visitors , the line is not high , and the other reason is that against a more undressed team is unlikely to face soon , so they will also have the chance to be the leading team the game of periods , if it happens that they lose the score again and they can also apply pressure , what is good about this game is that Angers as a host risk much more , and as an away team play more practical and defensive , which is a prerequisite for goals.
Both teams to score @2,00
Saint-Etienne over 4,5 corners @2,20

from what I saw over the internet, bookies must have made some fortune thanks to the result of this match 😳

Don't the bookies always make money, no matter the outcome, I was thinking if too much people are betting on same outcome, the odds drop automatically which will result on more people betting for outcome 2 and overall the total money should be spread around even for all of the outcomes.

Don't get me wrong please, of course bookies always make money, that's why the business works for centuries.

I'm talking about upsets, I'm talking that from what i saw all around the internet the mass went for outcome 1 while the result was 2. That's when I don't talk about making money but making fortune on one particular match.

Needless to say that odds for Angers win were more than friendly in the given circumstances.
